Recently I replaced the fuel pump in my 2000 ES automatic. I haven’t driven the car much and I noticed the fuel gauge seemed to be reading wrong but I didn’t think anything about it since the car had roughly a half a tank of gas and the gauge wasn’t off much. Today I filled it up and the gauge went immediately to empty and has stayed there with the low fuel light blinking. I’ve reset the cluster using the method of holding down the trip odometer reset and turning the key on. The gas gauge goes to full when the diagnostic is running but then drops back to empty.
I’ve looked at the old pump assy and it doesn’t appear you can install it wrong since the pump is keyed. Have I missed something or is it possible the cheap ebay pump I bought might be wired wrong.
