I have a 99 2500 4x4 with 5.9 and auto trans. I took a trip today and 2 different times the truck just lost power to the engine. It continued to run but i could pin the pedal and had no power to accelerate. I was going up a small grade and had to downshift into 2nd gear just to hold 30 mph up the hill. At the top I slowed down to make a left turn on to a freeway and as I tried to accelerate I had all power back and quickly came back up to speed. Never had any trouble before and not sure which direction to look.

Sounds like the 'ol dead pedal.
Disconnect both batteries for 20 minutes,
re-connect the batteries,
turn the keyswitch ON,
slowly mash the accelerator pedal to the floor then slowly release,
turn the keyswitch off.
Start the engine and test ride.
You might drive to a chain type auto parts store and get a free scan for codes & pending codes.
Do you know your lift pump fuel pressure?

I tried resetting the apps and the minute I tried to drive down the street the pedal was dead. After about 30 seconds the power picked back up. I will try to scan for codes today and have a full set of gauges ordered so I can monitor fuel pressure once I get them. Guess the truck gets a rest until then. Thanks for the help
