I've got a 1999 Ram 2500 cummings that has developed a overheating problem of late. dont know how i should go after this to fix the problem. any comments are greatly appreiciated

#1 Check your coolant level in the radiator after the engine has cooled off and top it off plumb full.
Were you pulling a heavy load up a mountain or were you stuck in heavy traffic?
What does the temperature gauge show....mine is 190 to 210.

Coolant level is full and i just replaced t stat with one from Napa still running warm. I went to cummings and got OEM t stat have not installled it yet. How likely is it that the water pump might have gone out.

Take your belt off and try to turn the water pump pulley be hand and see how hard it pulls. That sounds like a very good posibility.
