Before i fixed the head gasket i had put water in the radiator and cranked it a few times causing water to flood down into the exhaust. So i fixed the gasket got the engine back together and when the car ran for the first time water shot out the tail pipe. Now when i run the car white vapor pours out the exhaust and water drips from the muffler. So how can i get any left over trapped water out of the system.

drive it.

Sorry if you wanted a more technical method, but thats about the best way. Take it on a nice long drive. When the engine is hot it will vaporize any water and push it out the exhaust. It's also normal to have some water in the exhaust. The engine injests water vapor in the air, so you will have more water in the exhaust the more humid it is outside. You will also have more if you use cheap gas. As long as you installed the headgasket properly you should have no problems.

Yep yep what rice said!

Water is also produced by the cat converter in small amounts. Just drive it and it should clear up. I just put a new motor into my car and when I cleaned the engine bay I also got a little bit of water in my header. Just a little bit in there made it produce a steam from the exhaust that looked almost like smoke. It's cleared up about 100% now in just a few short trips to town and back. GL
