My sister-in-laws car didn't start yesterday so she got a new batery and I put it in. While I was under the hood I thought I would take a plug out to see if they also needed to be replaced. Well, I pulled it out and the threads were soaked with oil. Even the socket I used to pull it out had alot of oil on it. Her car is a 96 Dodge Neon with 115,000miles. Her oil has been leaking now since she got her car, went through 2 or 3 head gasket and a rear main seal. Could this be the reason it is leaking or not. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

my plugs started to get fouled when my head gasket went out but there could be other reasons also

Ive recently had the same problem on my 96 Neon, replaced oil pan, head gasket, and valve cover gasket, problem solved for me, I did a spark plug and wire job too.
Car's been running like new ever since. check for leaks in those areas.
