I just got a steal on a brand new 4 barrel intake, with a hot cam, some valve, and head gaskets. All i had to give the guy in exchange was a 12 back of beer!

Is this going to be a good swap? Do you guys think it would be worth the time, effort, and buying a new 4 barrel. What can i expect in performance?

If you have any pros and cons, it would be greatly appreciated!

As always, thanks in advance!

Is it an Offy intake? You could really make a slant 6 scream with the Offy intake, Holley 4 BBL 3 and 3 header and a set of gears. I saw a 72 Dart run mid 11's with that setup.

It's an offenhauser (sp?) They guy has to dig out the cam for me, he said it was a crawler or something, not too sure about the cam. I am looking for a decent header right now. I also plan of eliminating my mechanical fuel pump, and all the lines, which should cure my stumbling problem. What gears should i get for the rear end?

I just cant believe i have the manifold in my possesion, i saw one on craigslist the other day for 300, it was in pretty ratty condition IMO. The one he gave me is in the original box, with the special order tag from 1988. Never been installed :D

Nice steal, where these guys when I want that stuff? :( lol

The performance increase will definitely be noticeable over stock. Clifford Performance has the headers, but they aren't cheap. Get a small 4bbl, like a 390cfm Holley. If this is going on a truck, you'll need 3.73 or deeper gears to be quick off the line. Maybe even 3.91 or 4.10, depending on how much you drive it.

I've looked into this for mine but threw the idea out for a few reasons but a few people recomended the Edelbrock 1406, it's a 600 calibrated for economy on tiny 8's (think 302 305 318) but on the /6 with a header and a cam it's perfect, the edelbrock book says its ok on the 225 but there tryin to move a product so.

Yeah, its going on my 87 d-100. I dont mind spending the extra money for a header, since i saved a butt load on my intake. I appreciate the tip.

My end goal is the have my 87 /6 whip my 36 dodge's ass. which is running a build 318 :rck:

600cfm is too much for a slant six unless it built to the gills, IMO.

I just got the tank dropped, all the hoses looked pretty close to swiss cheese, i had no gas leaks though, at least that i was aware of.

Clifford makes a 3+3 headers but there expensive, pretty sure hedman makes a 6-1 too.

I think it's 400 for the Clifford headers.
