The truck will run like a champ most of the time, every few days while driving it will fall flat on its face until i let the truck idle. It just seems like its not getting any gas.

Ive replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, re-built the carb, new carb base gasket (new studs also). I guess my next step would be to drop the tank and clean it, and blow the fuel lines out.

Has anybody had simiar problems? The way the accelerator pump was swelled up leads me to believe the gas may have been contaminated.

One of the guys at my shop works at a chrysler dealer full time, it has him stumped also :help:

I think you are heading in the right direction - most logical problem is crap in the tank - I bet stuff is in there and occasionally gets sucked up to the pickup - causing it to starve. Shutting the engine off and it float away...

I have seen a wierd problem once on an old Road Runner - the steel fuel line was scaled on the inside - and occasionally would clog itself...was a head scratcher - wound up replacing the line and never had a problem with it again.

Check your gas cap too. If it isn't sealing correctly it would be like trying to drink through a broken straw.

make sure yor choke isn't binding.i have one that does that ,the p.o. had the choke disconnected due to some rust issues.and once in a while the carb will pull the choke shut and it won't open back up until you switch the truck off.
that problem will be solved when i get rid off the lean burn crap.
