Okay, so my transmission failed today, it didn't shift correctly, wouldn't go past second gear.
In any case, I looked at the error codes it gives me P0700, I looked in the thread that says what the error codes mean, and it says it means EATX controller DTC present... that's not much use cause I have no clue what that means.
It also returns P0000... which isn't in the list in the other thread... Now that might be that the device I have doesn't know how to read the error that it's giving... which is quite possible.
My question is, what does P0700-EATX controller DTC present mean? Is it related to the transmission failure? Or is it unrelated?

Your transmission went into "failsafe mode". Meaning that the computer noticed a problem and shut itself down leaving the transmission with reverse and 2nd gear only. The problem could be mechanical or electronic. P0700 means, as the definition says, that the transmission computer has a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) stored in it. The best starting point to figure out the problem would be to get that code-- AutoZone's code scanner may read it, so that might be worth a try, but if not, you'll have to get access to/take it to a shop with access to a more sophisticated scanner.

Well, I took it to a transmission repair place where I had it repaired last time...
They looked at the code and said that the computer registered pressures that didn't make any sense, and it gave a code that said it had a short in some sensor... so they're replacing the what ever box thing on the transmission with the computer and the sensors in it...
$300.00 for the job with parts included... so I hope it works...

Sounds like the solenoid valve pack.

Well, we got it back from the transmission repair shop, and they said they fixed it...
I drove it for about 2 days, shifted a little rougher than usual for some reason... Then today I drove over a moderately sized hill... not to be called a mountain, it's literally a hill... not even that big of one either... and the thing stopped shifting, went into "fail-safe mode" or whatever again. Same error codes.
I looked under the hood, noticed it was extremely hot, but that's to be expected as it was just running and the RPM was at like 5000 for about 10 minutes...
I checked the oil: a little low, but probably okay.
I checked the transmission fluid: The thing is practically dry. other than the residue from the sides of the dipstick hole, the dipstick is practically dry. I wiped it off, put it back in. Waited, pulled it out. Same thing.
Is it just me, or may the problem be that there is not enough trans. fluid in there? (I mean, maybe I'm just an idiot, but wouldn't it cause all sorts of problems if the transmission had almost no fluid in it? Just my common sense theory... so I thought I'd ask you guys.)
1) Should I add some transmission fluid and let it cool down and try again?
2) If so, WHERE the @#$# do I pour the transmission fluid in? I don't see a hole or anything marked "transmission fluid" but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place...
