Hello! I just joined this site in hopes of maybe getting some insight as to why I'm having the trouble I'm having with my car. I know pretty much nothing about cars, and will probably have to take it into a shop to get this fixed. With that said...

I just recently bought a 1995 Dodge Neon Sport. Everything's running fine for awhile. But I was only doing short trips to work or friends or things like that. But then last night I take it for it's first long trip. About 120 miles. And all of a sudden about 50 or so miles in a notice it starts to buck. Like, I push on the gas and it doesn't want to go for a second and then all of a sudden starts. But as I'm accelerating everything is fine. After being freaked out I get off the freeway and check the engine to make sure nothing is noticeably wrong or any strange smells or anything like that. Everything is fine except there's this strange super high pitched EEEEEE like sound. It disappears after a bit and I continue on my journey. Stays fine for awhile. Then on the way back home it starts out fine, but on the freeway again it starts doing it again. And the further I get the worse I gets.

If I had to guess, I'd say it might have something to do with a timing belt, or the transmission. It's an Automatic, so yeah. Any insight into this problem would be much appreciated. And if more info is needed I'll be more than happy to provide any.

If it were me going by what you describe I would change the tranny filter and fluid and see what that does. If you have not had the Time belt changed and or are unsure of it. You should have that done. If the time belt goes your engine goes. ie. bent valves and mashed pistons. Junk! Other than that I would change plugs and wires also.

Good luck with it
