I have a 1997 Gran Caravan,3.3, that might have an ac compressor problem. The ac doesn't work, clutch doesn't engage. I changed out the ac clutch relay with no luck. Took it to a shop to have it charged up, thinking it was low on r134. They said the charge was ok. They looked into the problem and they could get the clutch to engage but the compressor wouldn't start. They told me the compressor was bad and for around $800 they would fix it. The van's got 234,000 on it and I don't want to put a lot into it. In looking around for a compressor; I discoverd that I have an 'in line dioed' that I can't find anything on. Does anyone know about this dieod and what's it for? Also is there an 'ac compressor cut of relay'? NAPA thinkes there is but knowbody else does.
