I can not figure out what my cars deal is. Other than it's cold natured.

I can start my car up and let it idle for ever and it idles fine.

If I start it up and move it rather I use the gas or not, it idles rough and the throttle response getts realy quick. Im talking to the point of it seems like you floor it, but without the rpms. It gets worse depending on the weather. Cool damp mornings are the worse. It does not seem as bad when it's hot out or even cold. However if it sitts over night in the 50* weather and the moisture is up it's at it's worse. Also within the first mile of driving it will seem to surge when holding the pedal steady. It goes fine but then it seems to pull harder when it surges. Once it's warm there is no problem. Other than I sometimes have to give it a shot of air in order to start it warm. But thats been like that for years. So has the idle in fact.

The only problem I have once the car is warmed up is poor idle return.

Lets say Im in 3rd gear in town. 25 MPH and I push in my clutch to coast to a stop at the light. My idle will stay up above 1200 pms until I come to a complete stop. Thats only if I am at a low rpm tho. If I push in the clutch after getting into it a bit the idle drops normal. It also goes back to normal if once the clutch is pushed in I hit the gas a quick shot. The rpms go up and then back down normally when the gas is punched. Sometimes the rpms even bounce off the 900 rpm mark a few times before it settles out.

Could it be the TPS? The IAC is new and it never fixed the problem.

actually my car did the same exact thing when it ran and it will most likly still do it when i get it running good again, but ever since i put my atx throttle on it dosent seem to do it as much.

Its normal. Don't know why, but its supposed to "save the clutch" I've heard. Apparently Chrysler engineers werent strong enough to keep the clutch all the way on the floor until they came to a stop, so they raised the idle to "save the clutch" while the car is rolling. At least thats what I've heard. Sounds really lame to me, but I just deal with it.

Hmmmmm! Save the clutch. How does slipping the clutch faster save it? :D I realy don't know. Guess with the stock exaust you wouldn't really notice it much. You can hear the slightest movement of throttle thru my exauhst. :D

Today on the way to work I had the alt belt come off on me. Im not sure if it blew apart or slipped off but it was loud and I thought it backfired to be honest. Anyhow I go on my way thinking it backfired and I look down to see my battery light on. I knew then it was the belt that made the noise. So I drive to autozone and sure enough. It had come clean off and almost took my PS belt with it!

The kicker here was that when I pushed in the clutch to enter the autozone parking lot my idle stayed at about 3K up until I shut it off. Could that have been from the belt? It ran normal on the way to work from there and all the way home this morning. Normaly a little goose of the throttle will do the trick but not this time. It's never went that high.

mine used to stay at whatever rpm it was at when i would push in the clutch for a short period of time but i think that was mostly because my mtx throttle would stick shut and open.

hey acr its sounds to me like your whole car is falling apart. lol first goes the cai then the alt belt and next thing ya know its gunna be the motor fallin out, but i think you might notice that right away :D

Nope! Instead of that, I picked up a sharp rock and ruined my maypop tire in the rear. This weekend has made me sick so far. Every day I have to battle something to get to work. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Today I was about an hour late leaving work cause I had to plug my tire. Sheesh!!

idle may have been high from the computer reading low voltage and trying to spin the alternater faster... it was probably having a hard time doing that too with now belt. ;)

You know I have lost that belt twice now and neither time did the car (battery) fail to get me where I needed to be! Even this time with 12 ft or so of battery (welding) cables. It's also a huge battery with alot of cranking amps so that helps alot too.

yeah, i lost the alt belt in mine last summer when i was in st. johns. about 2 hours away from home. i drove around for 30 minutes with no alternator trying to find a shop who would throw another one on on a saturday. and mine was revving to around 3k while coasting around with the clutch in

but mine always stays at 12 to 1500 when coasting to a stop with the clutch in, did it since i bought it in august '06
