My 96 Caravan 3.3 has a rattily sound when its in gear at a stop. If I put it in neutral, the noise stops. It also made a loud scraping grinding noise for a few blocks then that went away. It shifts perfectly with an occasional thump. I'm hoping for a loose drive plate, is that common on this vehicle? It has 150,000 well taken care of miles on it. Can a torque converter make noise when they start to fail? The noise seems to be coming from that area. Thanks

I found 1 drive plate bolt very loose, about a half inch from being seated. I tightened it up and now the noise is gone. I looked for damage because of the scraping grinding noise and see where something went around the drive plate close to the starter teeth. Its just a scratch , but I wonder what caused that. I am having a stalling problem that coded to the cam position sensor. Could the cam sensor show up as a crank sensor? I'm wondering if the crank sensor was damaged from the loose bolt and a piece of it went around the drive plate. I'm going to try some salvage yard sensors to narrow the problem, then buy 1 new when I know what it is.
