diagnostic codes help please 98 Gr Caravan 3.3

1998 Grand Caravan 3.3 v6

Today I did 2 diagnostic code checks

trip / reset button / turn on key
and it shows "CODE" then "999"
then "CHK 0"
and then the mileage...

wiper / washer button test yielding
diag code 56

anyone know what these codes are????

I will do the OBDII when I can get to a reader.

I did look at the trouble code list in the stickys
but 56 is not listed.... 55 is the end of code display...
anyone??
