Hi everyone, I am new here. I have a 96 Grand Caravan LE with a 3.3 engine. It started to stall after it warmed up. Then it wouldn't restart for a few minutes, then it would stall again. I checked the codes and had code 54 show up thru the CEL. Seems to read as no communication of the cam position sensor so it shuts down. Should I replace the CPS? Can anyone tell me where its located on the engine?

Replacing the camshaft position sensor would be the first thing to do. It should cure your problem. The attached image shows you the location.

The image is very helpful. I had no idea where to look for it. Cheers

Thanks to a member on here for providing me this write up. This should help you as well as the picture above.

1) Sensor located near Thermostat Housing and Fuel Line to Rail
2) Disconnect electrical connector
3) Remove bolt holding sensor; there is access through hole in bracket for socket
4)Rotate sensor away; there is 0-ring which might make removal difficult

Install
0) Confirm paper space connect to face and 0-ring is in position
1) Apply drops of clean engine oil to 0-ring
2) Install sensor and rotate into position
3) Push sensor down and tighten bold to 14Nm
4) Connect connector

I was able to get the cam and crank sensors off a wreck today for $15. I put both of them in, and it solved the stalling issue. It was a piece of cake thanks to the information you guys provided. Thanks!
