After replacing fuelpump and gasket how long do I let the RTV seal before I fire it back up? Is an hour long enough? thanks!!!

yea it said an hour to dry, 24 hours to cure, I changed it at around 11 (central time) today. I kinda need to get working, what would you do?

When doing the 4bbl swap on my car I waited 24 hrs... I had a lot of RTV in use though... I guess it depends on how bad you need to drive, and if you have the time to do it again if it fails...

moot point as this is a few days late - but an hour or two is fine.

I've sealed things like that and replace a thermostat and had it running in an hour and no leaks. After it "skins" you should have no problems - especially if it's a small oil seal like that. The extra heat the engine produces will help seal it quicker!

just what i have gone through, i do NOT use rtv, i use permatex #2, rtv has silocone in it and that lets the gasket move. if you use rtv on a fel-pro valve cover gasket they will NOT warranty it. been using permatex #2 since 1965 have NEVER had any trouble. it has allways done what i needed. i have never had to wait on it, just put it together and go. just my .02
