Ok, I know this should be in the general engines section but this motor might find its way into my 86 so ya. Anyway this is a 318 out of a 1983 Imperial, not so odd your thinking but wait, this thing has a combination mechanical/electrical fuel injection setup on it. I was dumbfounded an 83, I thought FI started in 88. And yes before you ask this car is all original driven by an old man so no one has been screwing with it. Anyone know anything about this thing?

/some Imperials did come with fuel injection. I think it was a Bendix product. Chrysler recalled them and replaced it with a carburetor. Some of owners didn't get the replacement.
That is a rare find I believe. :gr_patrio

It is a rare find, started lookin around on the internet and in 83 there was less then 1500 made and only 128 built for and shipped to Canada, and they were recalled and the injection replaced with a carb, but this one is rust free and only 80 000 km on it so I'm definitley not gonna be stealing parts from it now, It's gonna be for sale for cheap soon to (think less than a 1000). Sure it's no hemi e-body but when there all in museums these m and j bodies are gonna pick up and having 1 of 128 is cool, and apparent one of less than 50 that escaped the recall with the Injection still intact.

With that low of miles and rust free It may be worth quite a bit more than that. :gr_patrio

no pics, but when it does come up for sale I'm buying it, and Shelburne, Ontario. It's a buddy of my dad's he bought it just to see if he could get it running but doesn't have room for it.

I think the 60's and early 70's cars have all but been picked threw. Look at the mags, how to repalce a enitrely rusted out this or that. Thats a sign to me that the mopar collections are going to be looking for something else..like these cars. I think anything mopar is going to be the same as charger and what not...no one can afford thme or afford to rebuild them. RC and trucks are a dime a dozen right now...just wait 20 years.

I agree, LRT's have went crazy the last few years, I think the next one's to pick up will be our Shelby's especially the Dakota (god I'd love one of those) and then damn near anything with a V8 will pick up. The same think happened with Chev I was at a show/swap meet this weekend and I couldn't believe it, people were asking upward of 15000 for 3rd Gen Camaro's, I have no idea if they'd actually get it but I mean a couple years ago they were a dime a dozen.

My cousin got a nice 80's Iroc with like 30-40,000 miles orginal.
I think its phase like it is with the new chargers. They look 10x better when all you see is hyrbids and civics. There are still people out there willing to melt the ice out from under the polar bears. In all honesty I think its the time to buy the 80's junk. Unless people know what they have they will get rid of it for dirt cheap. I am seeing more old dodge trucks in the yards.

Well I thought about selling my dodge today when I saw on the news gas is gonna hit $5+ a gallon down here in ga this summer (current $3.80reg), but I am pretty sure I wont even be able to give it away in a few years so I think instead of getting a 408 stroker and smoggin up the world I'll go diesel and try to figure out how to burn veg oil or whatever. So if anyone has info on putting like a 6cyl. diesel in place of a 318reg gas I'd like to know all I can.

Polar bears, well I have a feeling once gas gets even higher (just lets say 8-10$ a gallon) they'll be living in Zoos or somethin worse.
