My 2001 caravan has started with some unusual electrical issues. When you first start it the van turns on, but the radio, fan, door locks, windows do not work. But within a couple of minutes, everything turns on. This went on for a couple of days, when you would start the van. Then we took it to the dealer and they said they checked all of the wires, and found some wires that were corroded. And they had fixed the issues. Picked up the van, and within minutes from driving away, the radio went off, no fan, couldnt roll the windows down. Same problem, but this time it happened four times while driving home. Does anyone have any idea's as to what i should do? The dealer says now the only option is to replace some kind of computer that has to be registered to the vehicle? I am actually kind of confused about that as well... Anyone else having these problems?

As somewhat bizarre as this may sound, the following solution worked for both our 01 Caravan and our son's Civic.
We had the same symptoms and just shooting LockEase or any liquid graphite solution into the lock cylinder did the trick for both of us. Maybe long term the cylinder needs to be replaced but as long as this keeps working, I'll keep doing it.

Hi,

yes, we have a somewhat simmilar problem. We have power to everthing when we first turn on the ignition. However, we loose all power to the radio, blower fan, windshield wipers (I think that's it) when we actually start the engine. I think the power is supposed to be cut when the starter is engaged, but it just does not come on again until we turn off the engine.

Funny thing is... power very briefly returns when the rear windshield wiper is going!?! (not enough to get the blower fan going, though.

Anyway, I suppose it might be a ground problem, but I have not found it yet. we are going to change out the ignition swith. Hopefully that helps.

Does any of this sound familiar? Do you have any other ideas?
