I still need to drill 6 holes for to bolt the bed down, right now its on by 4 VERY tight clamps so i can get it to the auto shop.

Nice job, I like the flair side better but in the last pic the box looks a bit to far forward if you want another opinion.

I think hes right looks as if you need to move the box back a tad.. & center the rear tires in the wheel wells ..
Other than that.. Looks great!! Much better!! :rck:

can you guys tell me how far back it should be form the cab? im thinking that around 2" from the cab is good but I dident measure my old one first... centering is also on todays agenda with the drilling of the holes to bolting down of the box to the frame.

How much does the bed weigh?

I would have to guess no lighter then 500Lbs, 3 guys can lift it, 4 was better but still heavy. 2 normal guys cant move the thing however it slides around on the frame not bad.

I measured mine for you and its 1 inch away from the cab, Since mine came factory etc its centered on the wheels and its also flush to the bumper. You May want to maybe shorten the frame although it still maybe out of whack not sure how'd you go about making it look perfect. It sort of looks like the box is too short and should be longer, but oh well those are the measurements I got. If you need any pictures just ask I'll be more than willing to help.

I just noticed yours is a longbox :\ mines short I guess, the steps arent that big so tht may play a factor in measurements not sure

Hmmm, the frame does seem to be a little different form the oriognal SS truck and mine... will go for 1.5" form the cab via 2"x4" board spacer for measurement purposes. even then i still have a little of the frame sticking out. Seems as thoe i need to make a custom bumper... damn... ;)
The gf is coming over and we are going to tinker with it at the shop and see what we cant do.
Thanks!

Me and my brother can pick up my sweptline short bed. I'd guess your bed is probably 350-400 lbs, maybe 450 including the fenders.

Reason I ask is I wanna take the bed off my truck and run some 1/4's with it. I bet it would lighten it up alot. Still tryna figure out where all the weight in this truck is.

dont forget my 3/16" steel bed.
im thinking removing the bed for your 1/4 mile runs is not a good idea. see your truck needs some traction and the box is almost all it has. remove your front fenders and hood mabey ;)

And you think its called "The Mistress" because? If im not with the gf or spending money on her... no... other way around... If in not with the truck or spending money on the truck, im with the gf.
In reality the GF is looking at a new 1500 next weekend...

The weight prolly comes from that big ol' sheet of steel he put in there, guess it weighs a "bit" more than some wood
76D100

its a "bit" tougher too. i can put anything in there and never worry. if i even think about putting my sled or an engine in the back of a wood bed its garbage along with all the hard work that went with it.
