I got an 02 ES, and I want to try 20" wheels in the rear and 18 or 19's in the front. How would staggering the wheel sizes effect my performance ?
How bout even larger, say 22" in the rear and 20's up front.... is that doable?

I would keep the same size tires and wheels on both the front and the rear. The intrepid is front wheel drive and staggering the wheel sizes between the front and back would give it no gain to performance. 20's are fine. The biggest I have ever seen on an LH style vehicle was 21's but the tires were so small that the rims were almost touching the pavement. I would not go past 20's if you want to save the integrity of your rims.

wouldn't more tread on the pavement always be good? large tires aren't feasible up front because stearing larger wheels would cause rubbing and such. Larger tires up front wouldn't help acceleration, of course. However, wouldn't maximum tread in the rear help with stability versus fishtailing and spinouts ? Don't the racing versions of FWD cars stagger their wheels ?
