I finally took the time and finished my custom K/N cold air intake. It took around an hour and simple tools. With some help from a friend that works at an auto store. Check out the pics in the gallery section.

Thanks for the pic ! :)

Looks awesome. Did you notice any performance gains with the intake ?

oh yea... the intake made a noticeable difference... and it gives my car a powerful sound =P especially at higher RPMS... however i think i might of done something wrong... during idle, a weird noise comes from the air intake... i'm not sure how to describe it...

Is it like a "whooshing" or "sucking air" sound ? If that is the case, then I would say it is normal. My brief usage of a cold air intake on my truck had a "sucking air" sound during warm up.

If you don't mind me asking, what size of pipe did you use and the part number for the cone filter ? You have a 3.8 in your Caravan ? I'm sure the setup is very similiar on a 3.3L.

this is off the top of my head... i'm not 100% sure beacuse i had tried three sizes of pipe before deciding on one speicific on that weekend... i think we ended up with a 3' intake pipe (i'll check on that) and for part number on the cone filter i have to check too... and i had a 3.3L caravan...

Whenever you get a chance, would you mind posting the cone filter part number ?

I still like your setup, it looks awesome ! :)

just curious... i'm not sure, but i think for the past two days, i've been driving without a air filter =( apparently, i was careless and forgot to put a clasp between the filter to the metal air intake tube. and the filter feel off =( i had not realized this until today when i doubled checked everything. i am just curious if any permanent engine damage has been done to my car or any actions i should take? thanks in advance...

p.s. the k/n cone number was RE-0810

Thanks for the KN part number.

Hmmm, I think at most your engine would've sucked in some dust, dirt, and the occassional bug. Depending on the driving conditions, if it was around the city, then I doubt you would've done much damage to the engine (or at all).

To be on the safe side, get your oil changed (in case your engine sucked in abit of dirt/dust), run fuel injection cleaner (because unfiltered air did get through and the dirt may clog the injectors), and if you can, clean out the TB. Remember, I am erring on the side of caution.

A good check by a technician will probablly help too.
