..... Never overlook the obvious.... ;)

Was driving into town two days ago.... Everything fine.... Then 'POP!' ... No power to the wheels. Engine was running fine, just no power anywhere....

Shifted the TC lever back and forth, could only get any power to the wheels in 'LOW' or 'LOW LOC' .... Crawled under the truck to have a look-see at the linkage.... Everything was still THERE..... Limped it back home with thoughts of 'What's it gonna cost me to get the TC fixed??'

Turns out, the nut on the end of the shaft going into the TC... That holds the two shift arms on (One for 'range' one for 'LOC' or 'non-LOC') .... Had backed off and the arms had slipped off juuuust enough......

So, next time your under there, make sure that nut is tight! :D

D'OOOH!!!

I had something similiar happen on a 3 speed manual - the nut backed off the shift rod on the trans - and of course it was in reverse at the time....much relieved once i crawled under the car and made that discovery...

Loc-tite is our friend in these applications!!!

Hahahaha! NO SHIT..... There were ALL kinds of horrible bills running through my mind... (I called the famous 'Chuck's Gears' in Spokane ... $500 to rebuild the TC, NOT INCLUDING PARTS, and IF I pulled and brought the TC in myself)

I was thinking...'Here goes the $$ for my new engine...'

Thank God for small favors, y'know? :D :D :D
