How much trouble am I going to have putting the fuel injection setup off of a 1989 Ramcharger on a 1984 pickup. Both are 318 automatics.

IMHO, the Chrysler TBI injection system sucks...very problematic. Go with a 4bbl. carburetor set-up or swap in a 92-up Magnum engine with MPFI. Just my .02.

I've never done this, but I would assume you would have to completely remove and replace the wiring harness from the old 84 to the new one (most likely both engine and underdash and have the computer brain from the 89 as well - plus the instument cluster of the 89. - plus I believe you need to change the fuel pump as I believe FI motors need an electric one with higher PSI to work.
I'm sure it can be done, but the effort may not be worth it unless you have the complete 89 truck to get all you need.
If you are looking for just a FI deal, I think the holley pro-jection or something similiar might be the easier / better way to attack it - as those are designed to adapt to carb applications.

Only $2700. For me that would be like putting $4000 worth of software on a $300 computer. I think I'm going to give Megasquirt a shot.

For $1600 you could get the 700cfm Holley TBI system.
I used Mega-squirt with a 670cfm 2bbl projection TBI which has 90lb. injectors. They are to small to feed 360 making about 320 hp. I burned out an injector driver doing so.... The stock TBI has smaller injectors and will cause this also.
A 2bbl projection TBI might be large enough to feed a 318, but not a 360.

Why not a Magnum setup run by Megasquirt

I agree that MPFI is more efficient. I have yet to find a MPFI manifold for an LA engine. This is why I went TBI... I can modify a magnum M-1 manifold or any single plane LA manifold. In conjuction with the TBI system ECU, harness, fuel pump and throttle body. I can also upgrade to wideband 02.

I thought Mopar sold intakes with the bosses already in them, you just had to drill them out. I can't find it now put somone was making manifolds that fit both LA and Magnum engines that had the bosses in them. I'll see if I can find them.

FYI. I found that Edlbrock makes a manifold and rails for the LA engine now for MPFI.
They are available at summit racing.
Manifold: EDL-28155 ~$360
Rails for Bosch injectors: EDL-3641 ~$99

I know the manifold your talking about, with the dual bolt holes and bosses. It looks like an RPM air-gap manifold. I have seen them on ebay ocasionally.
