Hey guys i got a 2004 2500 CTD with a 2" leveling kit and 35" all terrains. I was wondering if i could pull a 5th wheel and if not could i convert it to gooseneck and tow it that way i know the ride would be less comfortable but still just want to know if i'm to tall or not???? Thanks. :help:

A lot of lifted trucks pull 5th wheels. It is a lot easier to do an axle over conversion on the trailer than to convert to a gooseneck.

My trailer came with the axles under the springs and 15" wheels. It still sits nose up and I had an extra leaf added to each set of springs on the trailer. I have a stock height truck with the stock BFG tires. It is not a lot nose up, but still a little and I am as close to the bed rails as I can get and still not hit the bottom of the trailer on uneven ground. Look into larger tires and wheels for the trailer or plan to raise it on some kind of blocks or extend the spring hangers down to lift the frame higher. If you are too much nose up you will put more weight on the rear trailer axle than the front and you don't want that. Also, don't do a gooseneck conversion, a fifth wheel trailer is just not made that way for a reason. Fifth wheels are more stable and with the higher center of gravity you want all of the stability you can get. Also most 5'er frames are not designed to handle the forces applied with a gooseneck, there is a lot less support from the hitch and can cause frame damage you would not experience if you left the fifth wheel hitch in place.

when i first got my 5th wheel i had a 3 inch kit with 35s and it was a little up but not to bad

i am thinking of going back to 35s when my tires i have now wear out but i think it really depends on the trailer they are all so different

my buddy has a stock 35oo dually and a 30 foot pilgrim 5th wheel and the hitch is as far up as it can go and still only clears the bed rails but 3 or so inches

my 40 foot monte vista with 3 inch kit and 35s and the hitch all the way down clears the rails by about 5 inches and the front of the unit is just up a tad nothing to bad just enough to say it is
