I have had this 77 W200 since i was 16 and its finally in tip top shape. (the engine at least) BUT I put a 3" lift on it a few years ago, and then a friend of mine borrowed it for a few months while i was in the air force, and he dropped the front driveline out of it. I think he drive around in 4-loc, but is it possible the lift caused this? if so what can i do? i would REALLY appreciate input on this. Thanks!

He may have torn up more than that if driving around in 4loc......
4wd is more or less for "soft" roads, not asphalt... if you do drive in 4wd on asphalt and turn you will notice the front wheels "chirping" or "grabbing" really bad, which causes front end damage which can be pretty severe. Next time ya might wanna just take the front driveshaft out and hide it... lol
Edit: and if you did the lift correctly making sure the driveshafts and shocks etc etc etc were appropriate length, then yes it may have been someone driving around in 4loc

my father let him borrow it for me, he didn't know what he was doing, we researched the subject of other stuff being messed up, but luckily it had been abused so the driveline was ready to go. its only lifted 3" (suspension) so it should be okay right?

A lot of folks seem to buy and sell on eBay as well. I've already put up a lot of extra parts I've accumulated and have sold just about all of it the first time around...only bad thing about eBay is since these parts are rather scarce sometimes they're over-priced from the get-go or get bid up way higher than they're worth. If you find the right auction though you can sometimes get a good deal.
Yards are still the best way to go...typically the cheapest...but the most time consuming.
