i have a 98 minivan and the egr is bad.i want to replace it myself can i do this and how hard is it.i have an idea where it goes and the motor is a 3.3.the garage io talked to said about 30 mins to do and told me iwould be better getting it at the dealer than a parts store.any and all info will be helpful thanks

Fairly easy to do and yes, get a dealer EGR rather than aftermarket.

I've been about 3 years on my Advance Auto EGR valve with no problems yet. About $50. $80ish at the dealer.

the mechanic told me that the factory part will have a switch i think it was and the parts store does not and he recommended the factory part and he was not with the dealership.he said he has put the other pstores part on and last like 1 yr

the rear bolt sheared in the plenum as i was undoing the EGR, presently i'm in the process to undo the plenum for better access to be tapping it out but its a pain . Yet at 96$/hr, i'm not over trying yet and the learning curve is good.
