Hi, I have a new 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and am having some trouble with the suspension. It sounds like strut mounts, ball joints, suspension bushings, linkage arms, etc... I feel this is unacceptable for a brand new 2008 vehicle. I have had it to the dealer and they say there is nothing wrong. I know this is not what Dodge had intended for a new Van. They also told me that other owners were in for same issue with no problem found. Say it is something I must live with. This will drive me crazy if it is the case. I would like to know if any of you have the same suspension clunk when hitting small bumps and if any of you know of a fix? I noticed this from day 1 and still only have 1,500 km's on the van.
Thanks,
Steve

I heard this thumping or knocking noise is just worn out bushings in the sway bar ends. I am going to get under my van in the next day or so to investigate...if so, should be an easy fix.

I agree as to what it sounds like but first of all, why should a 2008 which was fresh from a dealer with 0 KM's have this sound? Secondly, if it were a bad batch of bushings and you take it to the dealer to complain of that exact sound, you think that they would find it. They say all is normal. I am truly hoping for a recall or a TSB to return the van for a very quick replace of something small that they realize was installed but defective. Fingers crossed.

I'd take it to the next level, that being the zone office. At least you have registered your complain and if Chrysler gets enough of them, they might decide to do something.

The NUMBER one(1) reason why I will NEVER buy another Caravan. I have now had 3 of them with the exact same swaybar bushing problem, and the Dealer(and zone Dist Serv Mgr) all say trhe same thing "it's normal"....well it sure ain't normal on an Odysse, Sienna, or Montana. Not sire abot a Sedona or Entourage but I may find out later this year

That seems very unacceptable! :VHOT: Normal!?!? Have you test drove any of the other ones since your purchase to see if those do it also? It seems that if this common than there will be a recall or at least a TSB.

I just bought a 2008 grand caravan 2 weeks ago and it has suspension noise coming from what sounds liike the rear of the vehicle? I just hope it dosen't get any louder or it may drive me crazy.
Bottom line is dealer service sucks! They don't listen to what you tell them and they think we all have nothing better to do than lose money by taking off work to drop off our cars, wait all day for them to call and tell us there is nothing wrong.

Hi Again. I was wondering if anyone found a fix or cause for this. One of my recent visits to the dealer, I test drove 3 other brand new vans, all three, the first three we tried, did the same. It's very unacceptable for a new $30,000 + van. I would love for someone to find a fix. Please post any updates if you have any.
Thanks!

I have had 3 caravans, since the 80's and found the quality and responsiveness of dealers declining. Sell the product and after that, every man for himself. I have a 2003 caravan and have major issures with MPG and brakes. I just get the story, nothing is wrong..normal. All I can say, is this will be the last caravan I will buy. Now we know why GM is #2 and who is #1
