I want to reconnect my factory oil pressure and temp gauges but cant find the wires.What color are they on an 87 d-150 v-8 truck

According to Chilton (not always reliable) on an '87 oil is gray/yellow and temp. is violet/yellow.
Can you confirm by looking at the 2 sending units on the engine block and seeing what color the wires are there?

Stupid question....
Are we talking the wiring under the dash or on the engine?
I can look at mine tonight when I get home and let you know...I don't think they changed them in 87.
But I can tell you that the water temp (if this is the engine compartment) wire will be in the harness coming up the passenger side valve cover and will be located near the front of the block (obviously where the sending unit is) and the oil one is in the same wiring harness and is at the back of the block.
