A friend of mine in Cali is trying to get rid of a 1977 Dodge W-200 Power wagon Crew cab. It runs and drives and it's solid.

He collects 1960 Buicks and wants me to find one to trade him. He also lives 1800 miles away. If I found a Buick for him and delivered it to him and picked up my truck would it be worth it? Say $1500 for the buick and $1000 in gas and at least a weeks worth of my time.

What do yall think? Should I just offer him some money and get it shipped? I just drove to cali and back and I don't really want to do it again. Especially towing 2 ton+ vehicles plus a 2 ton trailer for over 3600 miles.

By the way, I'm thinking he wants about a grand for the truck. It would probably cost another 1000$ to ship it from "Northern" California to South Central Texas right?

You can ship coast to coast for about 1000-1200. The truck is definitely worth a grand if it is rust-free and runs, 4-drs are rare. I'd drive it back, what is it like 800 miles? Even at current gas prices, probably still cheaper than having it hauled.

I'm with Speed on that one.... Greyhound bus is still pretty cheap... Drive it back....
Besides.... How hard is it going to be for you to find a 60' Buick? It's not something ya see every day..... ;)

I understand about not wanting to go to Kalifornia. The last time I did, I couldn't wait to turn around and get out.... :D

It's more like 1800 miles. And this truck has not been on the road since like 2001 or so. I spent over $800 in gas just driving my hemi to cali and back. Imagine that beast! It probably weighs 8000 lbs and is probably geared pretty low.

I also just don't have the time to take off and make another trip.

I'm gunna start asking around for shipping prices.

Not including transportation (not gas or car transport) what is the truck itself worth? It isn't rust free but it is a very solid truck. Some small rust spots but not all the way through. All body panels are solid and floors are solid. It does run. it's a 318 with a 2 barrel/

I think I'd start low .... Like a grand, and go from there.... (Don't wanna over-pay ;) ) ... Maybe about to $1500 ? I'm sure there will be a few 'offers-counter-offers' ....
I paid $1500 for my 79' Powerwagon about 6 years ago. It was pretty beat up, but came with a snow plow....

I guess it's really up to you though, depending on how bad you want it.. :D

You should be able to find a hotshotter that is looking for a return load to bring it back for you. Thats a nice looking old truck.

If it runs good and the wiring isn't hacked up bad, it's worth 1500 easy.
