Was at the bonyard today and grabbed an instrument bezel (75'-80') with the 'wings'.... Grabbed it because it wasn't all busted up, or had holes drilled in it.. (Never know when you might need a 'good' one) Very good shape actually...

But it has that 3M double-sided sticky-goo tape on a couple spots.. Hard as rock now... Is there any way to remove this stuff without gouging or ruining/melting the plastic? I've used WD-40 in the past and sometimes it works, other times not (I'm not concerned with retaining the original 'silver' finish)

Try spraying it with Windex and soaking it real good. The ammonia in Windex will break down the adhesive.

baby oil is good for getting rid of the stuff that stickers and tape leave behind it might not be strong enough for that stuff but its worth a shot

another good product... head down to wal-mart and get some "Goo Gone" or "Goof Off" or something like that...

Either "Goo Gone" or "Oops" works great on adhesive residue. Also works on paint spills and other stuff. I keep some handy, great for cleanups when you need it.

Thanks for all the tips guys....

I'll try the windex first as I have a bunch of that on hand. Whoever before had that 3M double sided foam mounting tape on it (That stuff that's about 1/16" thick) and WD-40 took the foam part off, but not the adhesive part of it on the plastic. At least they didn't drill HOLES in it....

If the windex doesn't work, I'll try that 'goo-gone' as a few of you recomended. I've seen that stuff at the local Ace Hardware.

What really almost made me wanna cry yesterday, was I found the same kind of bezel that was the fake 'wood grain' type (Out of a Ramcharger) that had really been taken care of... Obviously Armour-all'ed it quite a bit, BUT... Drilled holes in the thing to mount some stupid CB mic holder. Damn, THAT would have been nice....

I have the oops and it works really good. Go with that, then clean it with the windex.
