Neon engine keeps running after key is removed

Hi,I own a 2001 Neon with 120,000km on the speedo,yesterday i got home from work and pulled in to my garage,left the car in neutral(5 speed) turned the car off and it just kept on running,I even took the key out of the ignition and it still ran....scary. I stopped it by popping the clutch. I drove it 4 hours later and it shut off without a problem any help with this situation would be appreciated

thats a new one to me, never heard of thatr problem before. Could be in the ignition switch.

Sounds like ignition troubles to me also fellas.If the time was out that bad it would bend the valves.

the ignition swith is broke its not a big deal to replace a couple of screws and unplug and plug the wire ate the same place it will cost you 50$ to buy the switch at a dealer

while your at it just get the little push botton starter!! LOL
