i have a 93 dodge caravan 3.0l v6. it started to not shift into second and third gears to smoothly so i decided it was time for a transmission oil and filter change. when i removed the pan there was a lil bit of shavings on the magnet. not much. i did notice 2 or 3 bent pieces of aluminum also in the pan. pretty good size i guess. about the size of a nickel or dime. i continued to change the filter and gasket and filled with the proper amount and kind of fluid.
test drove it, only around the block a couple times and to the store about a mile away, it seemed to fixed the shifting problems. so we decided to take a trip about 50 miles away. about 1/2 way there it went completely out. no drive, no reverse, nothing. it would just rev like if it was in neutral. there was no transmission fluid leaking or didnt smell burnt.
what could have caused this. was there something i should have checked out before replacing the filter and stuff. or is transmission shot. please help me.
