Although I currently have no problem I was wondering if the above is indicative of something.
If I watch the OD OFF light when Idling it seems to get dimmer every 2 seconds or so. I also noted then when touching my temp sender wire to ground that the needle would rise in 1/8 level increments at the same exact rate as the pulsed dimming of the OD OFF button's light.
Any insight into this incidence is appreciated.

Hmmmm, sounds like some sort of voltage fluctuation is going on. Have you taken any readings with a meter yet?

The temperature, fuel and oil pressure gauges are supplied a regulated +5V. The regulator is a thermostatic type that pulses to average the voltage.
This could be what your seeing at the temperature gauge, I'm not sure if the OD light uses the same power source.

I have not checked the voltage at the od light but the battery voltage does not fluctuate enough to cause the dimming.

I have not noticed it lately but sometimes I'll look at the temp gauge and notice it and the fuel gauge are rising and falling together, moving as fast as they do on start up.

You may have an instrument cluster voltage regulator going wacky. I think they still used them in '89.

More than once I have noticed the needles start dancing right before my phone starts ringing, while it is charging or not.

You either have a bad ground and/or interference from you phone... I remember a Mythbusters episode on cell-phone interference. It it they discovered that interference occured slightly ahead of the ring of the phone when trying to interfere with an aviation system.
