I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan with 54,000 miles on in. When I get gas, the handle keeps clicking off, likes the tank is full. I know that its empty. I pull the handle out slightly, slow down the stream of gas and after about 2 gallons it doesnt allow me to put anymore in. The first 2 gallons go in easily and then it starts giving me trouble. I noticed this happening once or twice, not its almost everytime. I have an extended warranty.
What does this sound like and is it really expensive.

how do you know you need gas?
if it's because your gas gauge reads empty the problem could be your float assembly and not that you need gas.
my caravan is older than yours but i understand that many chrysler products have this problem.
i opted to just reset my trip odometer everytime i refuel and fill up after 200-250 miles i get 20+ mpg on my 1993 3.3l grand caravan so i should have around a quarter tank left.
another problem could be your air vent tubing not allowing the air to escape as you fill the tank.

I've heard the newer Durangos had a Gas inlet recall because the fuel nozzle would never click it would just spray fuel everywhere....
Might be something to look at. Recal would be free, or you might be able to get a hint from a service manager. Good luck.
