Well, I got my BH today, one more piece to my pile of junk for the swap. (Ebay is awesome) Its a Lakewood blow proof for big/ small blocks and the other tranny... $200.00! they cost 400ish new.
My next big issue is the clutch. I dont want to deal with a bunch of leavers and linkages... I want a hydraylic clutch. Has anyone done this before? pictures/ suggestions? Fabbing is no big deal. I have all the tools and machines you can dream of at my disposal.
Thanks for all the help guys.

I have never done a hydraulic clutch swap, so no advice to give there. I do know that if you are using the Lakewwod BH with a 833 O/D you will have to turn the bearing retainer down to fit the BH. I think that we have talked about this before, my memory isn't the best.

I asked they guy, he said it was good for the OD, if not no BIG deal...

Here is a link to a tech article on a hydraulic setup.
These guys have everything you need to do the swap. Talk to Dan and let him know what you are trying to do. They will have everything you need to include correct bellhousing, bearing retainer linkages etc. Prices are very good a nos bell will cost you around 179.00 new/reconditioned bearing retainers between 50-60. Not sure about hydraulic stuff but they do drag race so they may have what you need. Good luck.

My apologies,
I wasn't paying attention like I should have been. At any rate if the blow proof becomes a pain you now have another source.

The linkage is pretty simple, it's not bad to deal with.

The largest problem I saw when I was trying to pull the old one off the parts truck was the clutch bracket and how it was attached/ was part of the brake bracket riveted? under the dash.
I can make an independent clutch bracket no problem so if i did it that way I would have less to worry about linening everything up properley. When the weather gets better I think I will go look at another /6 truck with an A833 (its a 76, the same one my long box step side came from)

The underdash brackets on the manual and autos are the same. All you need are the pedals.

Make sure you grab the linkage reinforcing plate bolted through the floorboard.

When I looked last it seemed to me that the clutch was attached to the same frame that held the brake on under the dash?
Well, got the GM HEI swap done on the truck today. That, a little timeing tweeking and some carb tuneing and its running strong.

It is attached to the same frame. Basically, you unbolt and slide out the auto pedal, slide in the new manual pedal and bolt the clutch pedal onto the end of it. IIRC, may be a few details I missed but that's the gist of it.

I guess im going to have a closer look at a clutch and peddel assy as soon as the weather gets better. It shouldent be too hard to get the parts form it and im sure everyone here will be hearing when i do get it or the BH in and cleaned up.
