Ok since I had to replace the choke cable on my D150 it has started to get rough when it gets near 4o mph. Any clue as to if it is the choke cable or if it is something else. Or should I just swap the cable and leave it out, does it run better that way?

I never run a choke on my trucks except my step side it has a edelbrock 650 with a electric choke it works pretty good. You should be able to look at the choke to see if it is all the way open when when its suposed to be.

Did it do any of this before you replaced the cable? If not, then the cable would be my first guess. Check to make sure your cable is properly adjusted and the plates are all the way open when you push the cable in. I don't think I'd remove the cable altogether as it surely helps with cranking on those cold mornings.
Whoops, I just noticed you're down there in Pensacola. You probably could get away with removing the cable, but I'd try adjusting it first. :gr_patrio

thankx Doodlebug, I will do that and check the cable and try the adjustment first before I take it off. And yep I move down here a few weeks ago to be with my lovely fiance :D :gr_patrio

ok I found the simple problem, the little arm that holds the choke cable was loose so I tightened that up and now the choke cable keeps the carb open completely now.
