Does anyone know how the thick black side molding strips are attached on a 1991 Dodge Ram? They were on those models for a few years prior to the 94 switch. What I'm wondering is this: Are the plastic clips underneath glued on or screwed on? If they are glued on, would removing the strips and using a heat gun remove the plastic clips? Or is this out of the question and I might as well repaint???

Thanks!

The rubber/plastic molding around the truck is glued on with 3M double sided tape. If you heat it up it will come right off, no problem. I know this because one molding came undone and i had to glue it back on.

Thanks. Unfortunately I have an '87 now (see my avatar image) and it appears to have little screws or pins holding the clips on. They go through the body. They could be easily brazed shut but I've grown to like the moldings. I think I'll keep them.

My 1990 Dodge Ram's (assembled in Canada) side moldings (black rubberized with chrome plated side moldings) are secured with plastic strips (strips are fastened to rivets).
