i hope someone has an idea of what i can do with my problem cause i dont want to pay for a electrical test unless i have to. aight what happens is all my gauges work fine, except my gas gauge is out, while my car is cold and stays cold. works fine in winter. but once it warms up, weather is hot or car is run for a long period of time all of the gauges die, sometimes its just the speedometer but other times its everything. im pretty sure ive checked al of the grounds and they all came up fine. ive checked all of my wire connections and basically gone through my entire dash and gauge cluster all the way to my ecu and to the grounds please let me know if any of you all have an idea i can try or have had a similar problem. thanks alot.

run the diognostic test turn key on off on off on without starting car and where it says your milage it should say an error code, see if you get one and then look it up and see what the code is and go from there.

I dont understand a couple of things. i have a odb 2 autoscanner but my check engine light isnt on so i cant really get the code cause it only reads when the car puts the check engine light on. I understand the key on off on off on but im not understanding the fact that it displays it on the milage. car is a 96 if that helps. Thanks

i dont know man. all i know is the key test, getting the code, and having it fixed. Is the car under warranty? if it is then bring it to thew dealer. My engine tests and problems were both fixed under warranty. I dunno where u get the error codes on a first gen, i never had to do it on my old neon. Try www.neonsonline.com its a good site with a ton of info. SOmeone there will be able to help you, im a member there and i get all my questions answered there about my neon. Tell them your from dodgetalk and you need help. best of luck

Ok SRT4wannabe I think I can help you here, Go to the auto parts store get an Alternator belt and change it before it breaks.I can almost gurantee it will solve the problem> IT WORKED FOR ME! after changing a 60$ sensor cursing it somemore and all it was was a 10 dollar belt lol.The belt is slipping causing the charging system to not fully operate at the right volts wich will make your guages go first. If you break the alt belt and drove it home like I did You would notice when the battery starts getting low the guages will all screw up the radio will shut off then the head lights are going to go dim dimmer and gone I made it to the house ok and it died completely soon as i pulled into my parking spot.TRy this and let me know.

Sorry to hear it didnt work.Autozone will test the alt for free.It may be failing to charge enough. Good luck.I need it with my car since the gasket change the oil light has come on although it's full. I have drove it for about 400 miles since the light has come on I dont think the oil pump is bad or it wouldn't have survived the mountains this weekend. I also think my t.b is sticking open some or I have got me a vacume leak after being on the gas for a few and pressing in the clutch the tach only drops to 2ooo rpm's.It will irk me till I pull over while holding the clutch to see whats up under the hood soon as e-brake is pulled it drops to normal idle, then it's fine a while then it does it again.Im loosing patience with it.
