Hi, I've got an old 88 ram van, that after sitting a few days, won't move for a minute or so, but when it does go it moves and shifts fine. Does that sound like the front pump or torque converter? thanks

Tr starting it in neutral and let it run there for about a minute. The pump doesn't work in park in mopar trannys. :gr_patrio

Huh??
The pump is driven by the input shaft. As long as the engine is turning, so is the pump.
A fluid/filter change is in order, along with a band adjustment to solve this problem.

How do you adjust the bands? I need to change my gasket and might as well do everything all at once. Think I am going to install a drain plug.

The pump is driven by the converter hub.The pump is pumping in park,it just isn't picking up the fluid like normal.(it is not filling up the torque converter) You have to check the fluid in neutral for this reason. It is a normal "drain back" problem and does not hurt anything.
Band adjustment:
Front band,snug (72 in/lbs.) and loosen 1 1/2 turns
Rear band,snug (72 in/lbs.) back off 2 1/2 turns.
