Hi! I just bought at brand new 2003 Neon SXT. I'm thinking of upgrading it and adding a few mods, but I'm not sure what I could do with it. My last car, a 1990 Dodge Daytona ES, was going to be used for some upgrades, but well, the age of the vehicle kind of prevented that. But, now that I have a new car, my options kinda go up, you know? Anyone have any thoughts?
Oh, just to let you know, I'm a collage student working in a resturant. Money is NOT on my side here. For now anyway. Thanks for any tips guys!!

Since you're on a budget, what's most important to you? Performance (power and speed)? Handling? Looks? Is your SXT an auto or manual? If your looking for performance then a cold air intake or underdrive pulley are great mods to start with. You'll notice a difference right away and they're not too expensive. (CAUTION: these performance mods have been known to cause uncontrollable spending on further modifications in the quest to go quicker). For handling there are tires/wheels, lowering kits, better shocks/struts, etc. whatever you want to spend. I don't really have any suggestions for the looks department but I know there are plenty of body kits and accessories out there for Neons.
Oh, yeah, if you haven't dropped by yet, visit Neons.org, there are a few thousand Neon enthusiasts there that will be more than willing to give you their opinions and help.

I'm also a college student on a budget.. just got a 2000 Dodge Neon and wondering If I get a K&N Air filter, will it help out? The K & N filters go from $40.00 to $50.00, no? Anything else that is below $100.00?

Actually the K&N filter with the cold air intake are around 300 $ at autozone that is the whole cold air intake. You can put a K&N filter in your car but that isnt gonnna make it cold air.I used an APC cone filter (AUTOZONE 20 $ ) and moded my factory air intake tube to fit the filter.(gets dirty faster) really dirty especially in dust.I am on a tight budget to so I make alot of my own stuff here,I like it that way.I added a mopar performance computer 265 $ dodge garage after taxes.Made sure my exauhst was flowing good Really Good.Next From a junk yard ill get a 60 mm tb off a 4.0 jeep with a few parts from my old tb now on it ill put it back in for Maybe 12 hp .Im gonna say realistically (*just a guess) only about 6 or 7 hp.I am not to sure Just what the underdrive pulleys do exactlly but maybe give the motor more power by making it easier for the other components to operate, air conditioning, alt, power steering, and ect. I dont have one,,I dont have no fancy wing,no fancy wheels,no god awfull racin stripes,no crazy looking exhaust with a 4 inch hole big enough to loose a piston out of lol ( damn honda's).PEACE OUT.
