My truck doesnt have a fender tag, looks to have never had one either. Its a 1976 D100 Step Side. Its like an olive green color. This truck was once SC State owned by the Forestry Division. I was gonna repaint it a different color green but I polished the inner fender well under the hood and it shines like new. The color actually looks nice so we decided to keep the original color. I did locate a VIN plate on the drivers door. It has the VIN, weight, make, model, then a T.O.N. number. What the heck is a T.O.N. #. Well the TON is SL153140. Here is a pic of the truck to help.
It doesnt look lice SC repainted the truck either, looks to be original paint unless they removed everything and repainted it.

Look in the glove box for a sticker of under the hood.

No tags or stickers anywhere, just on the drivers door.

When I got my truck the sticker and tags were missing as well. I went to the dupont color code site and looked mine up. You can do specific searches by model and year. My truck is a yellow orange color and the site only showed one orange for 1976 so it was easy. They had a few different greens in 1976 so it may be a little harder for you. I like the color on your truck and was thinking of doing mine in green as well. Since you and I have the same year and body style truck now I know how it looks! Good luck and post back if you find the code.

I think after a certain year, they have a metal code tag on the rad support, maybe stuck under the grille a bit. My '80 has one like that on the right (driver) side, but my '72 and '73's don't. I can't remember if my '79 RC does or not.

Nothing matches for 1976 but in 77 the Forest Green looks like it might be close. It has no metallic in it at all and it isnt even close to the color on my 2000 Dakota.

Well my luck is even worse! I found where the tag was... It was a sticker on the hood which is long gone, I also found the build sheet. It was under the rubber floor matting and bolted under the seat track. Half of it is totally gone and the other half is so bad you cant read it.

I also found a metal tag riveted to the front of the core support after I removed the grille, It has the # 4860 on it and thats all. Could this be a paint code?

I found it!! Paint code 44379 Olive Green on the 1976 Commercial Grade truck paint chip chart. Seems they offered some different colors for commercial trucks.
