How do I remove this to replace it?

First you need to pop the clip out. There is a positive locking mechanism on the connector- you need to push it through to the other side then the clip can be pulled off. Then you can take the sending unit out. It is hard to get to- I used a pair of needle-nosed vise-grips to get the old one out and the new one in. You don't need to make it overly tight, just enough so that it doesn't leak. Good luck!
