Hey i tried to do the search thing but couldnt find anyone talking about tires for a 2500. I want to go bigger with my tires but dont plan on lifting any time soon. What are people running on thier 2500s and what is the biggest size you can go without any problems. Thanks for the help

I have been running 315/70R17's from day one without any problems. Some people have minor rubbing at full lock but I haven't. I have the snow prep. pkg which has a heavier spring.

ramsterhemi.....i'm gonna be trading my 02 in this fall for an 05 cummins 2500... would u recommend going with the snow plow prep group just for the heavier springs? i won't ever plow but the heavier spring make it worth it? i plan on lifting it later too if that has anything to do with it

thanks

If you are going to lift it I would not get the snow prep. The only reason, is most lifts will assume that the front is 2" lower than the rear and lift the front higher to get the truck to sit level. If you have the snow prep the front is only about 3/4"-1" lower than the rear and when you install the lift the front will be higher than the rear. I ran into this and had to install an add-a-leaf to correct it. If your not lifting it then get the snow prep because the truck sits more level.

You can run the BFG ATKO 31570R17 with no lift or leveling kit on the factory stock rims...A lot of people are doing it. Some trucks rub alittle, some don't'.
And ,you can get them from TIRE RACK, on the internet for $117 right now! From Louisianna to Central Texas, including shipping /taxes, etc it's $551.84 to your door! Just remember to get your speedo (ECM) adjusted for the new tires....
And, the tires at right at 65lbs each!

THe dealer is full of crap....Call BFG and ask for the revolutions per mile....I think it's 599....the dealership can reprogram for the revoutions per mile in the ECM. If they won't some BFG Tire shops do it for you! Take alook at this link,

315x70r17D = 34.5" Dia.
35x12.5R17 = 34.8" Dia.

how is ur gas mileage with these tires. did you lose a lot ?

I don't think I lost alot, my trip computer says I lost 4 mile to the gallon but that doesn't seem right. I'm burning just as much now than I was before.
Besides I didn't buy it for the gas milage, I bought it for the POWER.
It's GREAT!

What rear axle ratio are you running? I want those tires, but I need a torsion crank a little since I have the 1500 and I was told with my 3:55 rear end they wouldn't work very well. Any suggestions? Thanks

Okay, I just ordered the BGF 31570R17's thru the AAFFEES web site (ordertire.com)...including shipping and handling to my door is $561.00...Then the post AAFEES Tire shop will mount them and give me a road hazard warranty, which meets Tire Racks, today price of $123. The normal price for the tire, if you walked into the AAFEES Tire Shop and asked is $200. It'll be another $18 per tire for lifetime mount/balance/rotation/road hazard thru AAFEES. I have a bad habit of getting Mesquite thorns into my sidewalls everytime I go hunting here in Texas (every other month or so), so the $18 to me is a good deal and now I'll have a tire shop locally that will handle everything...

If you order the tires from TIRE RACK, who will honor any road hazard warranty that you purchase? I couldn't find anyone who would honor the road hazard locally, because you were ordering the tires off the Internet from Tire Rack, which is nothing but a big warehouse...

Just food for thought for any military or retired types around having run into this problem....

Website and 1800 number: http://www.ordertire.com/shop/shop-main.cfm

Here's another forum I found on this with pics of a guy with the 315/15/17's.

Have a look at the link.

For military/retired military types....

When you navigate to the AAFEES homepage and the automotive and tire section, the url will change to ORDERTIRE.com. I called the 1800-842-4135 number and told the lady, very friendly and helpful, that I was trying to buy the BFG 31570R17's and that TIRERACK has them for $123.00. SHe said they would match the price. So, I don't know if they surf the internet for the different sites or what....And, if you have an AAFEES credit card, I believe you can get free shipping to your house too. Don't quote my on that, free shipping may only apply to 16" and below tires....
ANyhow, I called the on post AAFEES Tire shop and they said "YES" they will mount/balance/road hazard etc for $18. Apparently, on posts' tire shops have contracts with local tire dealers and have to go by the local price, whereas ordertire.com is the contracting office for the automotive division of AAFEES and that's why they matched tireracks price. Don't know if I'm making any sense or not...

Oh, stopped by local Dodge dealer and they said no problem reprogramming ECM for me for larger tires...$32.50 for 30 min work. Oh, the tire Revolutions per mile at 45mph is 601....

Hopefully they won't rub and I won't have to install the 2"leveling kit (found on internet for $129.00 if needed).

So good luck....
