I've heard all this talk about the bad transmissions used on the Caravans and I was wondering if these symptoms I currently have are early signs of transmission failure. I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan Sport with 25K, if I remember correctly, this means my van is still under warranty. When I'm on the 1st gear between 2-4K RPMs, I felt this vibration. I don't know if this is the tranny slipping? or just something wrong with the engine mount? Any advice?

Only thing I can think of is change the fluid in the tranny. Make sure you put in Chrysler ATF (either 3 or 4, depending on what your manual says).

Hi angldrkns9
We had the same problem. We also had a small leak under the tranz. I took it to the dealer and they scratched their head for some time and said the tranz was ok. Well I didn't believe them so I took it to AAMCO. By the way... the warranties was out already....
AAMCO found that the leak was caused by a warped input shaft which messed up the seal. Also from the vibration, the converter started to go away. A $250.00 vacuum module also went south causing the tranz to get stuck in the fail safe mode and would not shift properly until I put the van into neural and turned off the motor and restarted. That reset the computer. Sucks doing that while going down the street. Anyway AAMCO fixed me up. If you have the warrantie ...Geterdone !!
