Wow, there sure are alot of posts with electrical problems. I'm here trying to research these types of problems on a '99 Neon. I don't see many posts for the Neon. The funny thing is, I have a '98 Town and Country and I have loaned it to this young couple from our church that owns the '99 Neon I am trying to fix.

Anyway, they have this HUGE stereo system in their car and the car has not been maintained as I would have. One item in particular, I put WD-40 on all of the exposed electrical connectors from time to time. This keeps the battery posts clean and the ground points in good shape.

Of the people who are having electrical problems, how many have after market electronics, ie. stereos, alarms, auto-starts, etc. on their car?

How many use WD-40 on their contacts?

It would be interesting to know this.

I don't use WD-40, but I do have a habit of touching the end of the oil dipstick to each of the battery terminals every time I check the oil, which has the same effect. It leaves a small drop of motor oil on the terminal, which keeps it from corroding.

I should add, I'm not having an problems with my '98 T&C. I do have a '99 Taoe with an after market auto start on it and had a Jeep Waganeer limited with an after market auto start on it and both of those vehicles have/had wierd electrical issues every now and then.

Fixed the Neon. Ended up being a bad ground connection at the front clip on the drivers side. Three pins from the PCM multi-pin connectors are grounded there with one other wire. We had a Chiltons manual and it was great. It identified where each pin goes and an open, where there should be a ground, was easy to find.

They had the car to a dealer and the dealer replaced the PCM with a used one. When it acted the same, they said the car must have a short and it fried the replacement computer. It was not a Dodge dealer but it was right next to where the car died so they inquired there.

Later.
