First, a kind Hello to all, i visited and registered about 6 PM here yesterday, and spent the next 7 hours reading a million posts/topics...it seemed. This site offers a fine reservoir of information on Dodges...glad i found it.
Questions im looking for assistance/knowledge on concern the swap of my 1977 318/A727 combo into a 87 D100 that was sold due to a rod coming thru the block (hole is almost soft-ball size !).
I've completed the pulling and swapping, now it's hook-up time.Questions are as follow:
#1 The original 87 setup was a 225 SL6/A904. It employed the Lean Burn ESA system. The SL6 distributor had 2 pick-ups and 2 wiring plugs , one for each pickup. The 318 distributor only needs one. What is the best way to connect this circuit ? One wire from each plug travels back to a factory weld on the harness, where they are common.
#2 After a lot of reading here, it seems very propable that i need to remove my 77 Ballast Rstr/ECU from the 77 truck and use them. When some of you have employed the Mopar electronic ignition changeover, was your ESA (under fender computer) then Completely out of the loop...ie..no longer required at all ?
Just these 2 questions for now, have several more to add to this swap thread later. Thanks in advance.
