I'm changing from a 2000 Grand Caravan that has power locks with remote that I've crashed to another 2000 Grand Caravan that I've purchased that just has power locks and no remote. I have two questions:
1) Can I (easily) remove the receiver for the remote from the crashed van and install it and use the remote on the replacement van?
and,
2) Will a newly installed remote starter/security system also remotely unlock the doors on the replacement van, even though it does not have the factory remote unlock?
I'm leaning towards option #2 if it will also unlock the doors remotely. I use the van for transporting music equipment, and it's really handy having a remote lock/unlock when loading & unloading expensive equipment into clubs in seedy areas. Of course, having an remote starter (I'm in Buffalo) and an alarm would also be a bonus.
Thanks in advance for your help!
