I have an 80 150 that's rusted, an 84 no rust. Want to swap cab but want 80 dash. Any thoughts on this?

;) ;) ;)

How good are you with a MIG welder?

The sheet metal that everything bolts up to is different as night and day between the two.... :D

Sorry about that ... there goes that idea, huh? ;)

I know what you mean though... I like the late 70's 'wrap around' style dash better than the flat 'squareish' dash that came afterwards....

On the other hand, the later dash has bigger gauges and are easier to read, I think...

that would look cool ;) but I perfer the dashboard on the 85 (in my own opinion)

although when i built my 78 lil red express model the gauge decals from the 00 prowler fit perfectly in the cluster:rck: (if only that was true in real life)

(hmmmm gives me a reason to find a late 70 dodge:D )

What exactly is different? I just got through bolting up a '79 dash to an '87 cab and the only thing different I could see is the lack of brackets for the lower corners to bolt to. The screws across the windshield are exactly the same. What am I missing?

You'll probably have to pull the windshield out to get at those screws. I broke the glass in one of my parts trucks trying to take them out...

Use a screwdriver with a flexible extension.

Ya know, i could very well be wrong .... you may be able to unbolt everything (Although it looks like a lot of work) and R&R it all. I'm just assuming that there are spot welds, and from tearing dashs apart before, they sure look different to me (the sheet metal underneath)....

Anything can be done, ;) It just does't look like a quick easy changeover..

"the sheet metal underneath" needs to be changed to...but the screws attaching it are under the windshield rubber. I didn't have any trouble getting a screw driver on them but folding the rubber up enough puts a lot of stress on the edge of the glass. I got small cracks in the windshield at each place I tried to remove the screw.

Well thats not an issue for me, my cab is completely bare right now. I thought there was something else there I was missing. The corner brackets could be put in quick enough with some angle brackets and sheet metal screws. The older dashes seem alot easier to R&R than the 81 and up in my opinion but I've only done about 4 or 5 of each so I'm no expert.

The 72-75 dashes and the 75-80 dashes,(Instrument lay-out the same, but trim a whole bunch different..) the sheet metal is damn-near identical... A few different screw holes here and there.... 81 and up though, things are layed out a whole lot different.....
