I have a 91 Dodge Ram 50 2.4L Inline 4. I took into into the shop after having some trouble with it the other day. It was buring Oil pretty bad and eventually just started stalling out. It was also making a loud rattling sort of noise.
After taking it in, they pretty much told me my engine was shot and that I would need a new one. They took the stethoscope to it and in about 5 minutes gave me the diagnosis:
-The crank bearings were dry fusing
-This in turn wore the crank bearing out
-Not something I can fix (rebuilding engine or getting parts in)
My questions are:
-Should I seek a second opinion before writting off my engine and seeking a new one?
-Is their anything I can do to fix the engine?
-Any ideas where online I could get a good rebuilt engine for my truck?
Thanks a bunch!
Cheers,
