Ok guys, I need your advice. I've got a '97 4x4 with 5.9 and I'm desperatly seeking more power. I've already spent a couple thousand making the "cheap" and "easy" mods that have always worked for me in the past, but have noticed very little improvement. So far, the K&N FIPK and Borla headers & exhaust seem to have helped the engine breathe a little better (and I mean a little) on the top end, but I noticed no improvements from the Jacobs ignition. I was told by a guy with a supercharged Dak that the stock computer counter acts every change I try to make, but mopar performance doesn't make a pcu for 97 4x's. Another post on this sight said a 2wd pcu will work. Anybody have any experiance with this? I'm considering heads & cam, maybe TB, or even a supercharger, but I don't want to throw more $ down the drain. Not going to make any more changes if the computer blocks them.

Basically, I want 5.7 hemi power without a $30k truck payment, so give me your suggestions. Fire away -

a 97 2wd mopar pcm works fine in 4wd'sThanks for the reply. Is there anything else I need to know about using a 2wd pcm? Does it adapt to other changes, like cam and heads?

Anybody else have any other suggestions?

Some Cams (Like mine) require the Mopar PCM for recieving the extra air/fuel requirements. 2Wd PCM would work fine.
Just becareful not to sacrifice your low-end, being a 4wd guy, your going to need all the torque you can get.
Why not go with a stroker short-block? Thats the sure-fire way to add instant torque, and everything else added on compliments it.
Then go with some worked heads that focus on low-end flow, stick with the 1.92 intakes. With cams, focus more on the at .050 flow rather then the advertised specs.
Throw in a nice 2200-2500 stall converter with a shift kit.
But just the stroker alone will give you incredible results.
I suggest you contact KRC performance.
Good luck man!
