Today me and a few friends went drifting in the snow. Then we tied a rope to a sled tied a knot in the other end and closed the knot in my trunk and pulled each other down the road. It was probly the best thing i have ever done in my neon. :D The worst part was when i wasin the sled goin about 40mph i hit a pothole with my knee and flew off the sled It hurt like a son of a biotch. The best part about it was that i never got stuck and we got about 7 inches of snow today. If the roads still have snow on them were gunna do it again and were gunna record it. Then ill post it up so you can see it.

Saw some knucleheads do that with a shovel and Ford p/u on a public road next to a strip club while on my way home from work a couple years back.

I got one of those wallmart snowboards too. Thats what I started out on around the house. Im finaly good enough now that I can go to the ski resort without being a total embaresment to myself. I love it!!! Im not anygood at it yet if you ask me but I can stay on my feet down the slopes. I got some back yard vids my neighbor kid shot on my digital camera of me trying to do some jumps from a launch ramp in my back feild. I may try to upload a few to my gallery. You all would get a good laugh from that! LOL I sure did. I also seen what I was doing wrong so I hope to correct it this winter. But like your situation Sohc98 I dont have any snow yet. The last batch melted to fast in the rain. Bummer!

don't feel bad ACR, we've only got an inch of snow on the ground. Weird winter indeed. As for snowboarding (eyes rolling), don't get me started. My motto is, learn to ski or get off the mountain! LoL!

iv got a burton snowboard but it was expensive($675) and dont want to wreck it so thats why i use the walmart for this. We have like 6 inches of snow but none on the streets and i dont have a 4x4 to do it in a feild.

I hate it when poeple say that it makes me nuts. If you cant share maybe you should get off the mountain (unless you own the mountain your self).

:D I know it drives snowboarders nuts...that's why I said it brother! :D ...all in good fun. Humm...I should let this die...but i can't. I'll tell you what drives me nuts sohc, snowboarders have a very distinct attitude. You see, us old fart skiiers where around well before mr. burton decided to make the snowboard, we are the ones who share the mountain. What drives me most nuts about snowboarders is how they mimic the surf culture...all the way to sitting in packs on the side of the mountain waiting for the.....waiting for what? Surfers sit waiting for the big one but snowboarders just sit because they think it's cool. Makes me want to ski right through them. :D Mind you sohc, just a little friendly ribbing going on here on my part.

Just for the record Alaskaneon, I do know how to ski!! LOL Why don't you learn to board? :D I don't know where the tension came from between skiers and boarders but I have seen what you mean Alaska.

Guess my style is more like a skateboarder than a surfer. I dont sit and wait for things to happen I shred things and make it happen :rck: rotflol

I have a walmart board and a Burton board that I use at the slopes. I got it on sale for less than 500 bucks for board, bindings and boots. :D

Talking about being pulled by a car on a snowboard reminds me of gettign pulled along to about 45 mph on my old Powell Peralta skateboard. WOW that was along time ago!! Tony Hawk was just getting his name then! As matter of fact the whole DOG TOWN team was still skateing! :D

I can kinda ski too but not good enough for the slopes i need to stay on the starter hill with skies.

Gettin pulled on a skateboard (skitching) behind a car is nuts i tried that once and hit a pothole and fell face first so im never doin that again. Tony Hawk :WHT:

Ed Templeton all the way. :D

I just used Tony Hawk as a time mark. He never was one of my favs. Just saying thats when I got into it. My first deck was a Powell tho Mike McGill's skull and snake.I liked the picture his was b4 the front lip was invented. The Last board I got new was Chad V's everslick deck with a girl sitting on a coke can. I also liked that picture.I have no favs realy, they are all better than me!

BTW: I ski alot better than I board. Im not a hazard to other people but I can get myself into a jam!! On skis I go fast on any snow type. I only go fast on the board in powder. It's to hard to control on the hard packed snow (ice) here in WV. Id do stupid stuff with enough powder.

Alaska: If we get the snow for it here I have a hill that I plan to catch some air off of about 1/3 of the way down. I imagine it will either be a total disaster resulting in a trip to the ER or I will pull it off and make a killer video. You may see it on Real TV. The hill isn't that long and Im not getting major air the first trip (assumeing Im not hurt after the first one) if I can help it. The hill is steep and almost vertical so it wont take much to clear alot of ground. LOL We will call it the Redneck Winter Olympics.

This is going to date me. I was a little skater punk before the bowl and half pipe were in existence. I moved on to freestyle on bike as a teenager and did some serious neck damage doing stupid human tricks on the half pipe...air is so addictive. Anyway, as for why I don't board. Well, its a matter of time, money, and pain. If I head into the mountains I've got to climb to make a run and if I'm going to go through the effort I'm going to ski down. Besides that, I can retro fit my alpine skis with skins which allows my heal to lift, this allows me to use them to climb the mountain. If I'm using a snow board I've got to either post hole all the way to the top or bring a pair of snow shoes.

Now, If I'm at the ski resort, i have to make up my mind as to what I want to do...spend all day on green runs with a board falling on my face and my butt or rip up the top of the mountain and push my luck on the double black diamond runs.....hummm.....what to do.....think I'll go skiing! ...and besides, uh...I will drop it this time! LOL! :D

Parking lots! The lakes freeze up here (eventually) and that is pretty sick. Last time out in my RX7 I got to 85 before I pulled the e-brake. I sort of miss-calculated how far the shore was, wound up almost peeing my pants, stopped just shy of it. All in good fun as Alaska would say, so I went to find a passenger. I had no idea my cousin had such a... large vocabulary until after that ride! LOL

Alaska- next time up the to slope why don't you borrow my board! If you've skated I am sure you would do OK, even on the diamond hills. Greens all ice right now anyway!

LOL! I have parents who ask me teach their kids how to do controlled slides and other stuff in our church parking lot!!! which is about as big as that mall lot. In a controlled environment, that is a lot of fun. Me and my wife are notorious for that kind of stuff. When you know how to control your car in an out of control situation you are a better driver if you ever get in a situation that is dangerous.

Case in point. When I was living in the twin cities, MN going to school I was working for a delivery company driving a commerical truck. One day I slowing down as I approached a four way intersection and it had been raining, i had over 20,000 pounds of frieght on board when the back end of that truck broke loose and the truck started to slide sideways on wet pavement. I could have rolled the truck and probably killed myself and a bunch of other people. Instead, because of goofing off with my car as a kid i instinctivly controlled the slide on wet pavement with a top heavy 20k load of frieght and spun the wheel and gave it gas. I ended up doing a complete 360 through the intersection and threw it into gear and took off. I was very fortunate to not hit anyone but the whole thing I'm sure, look orchastrated! That was so cool. I'm sure there were a bunch of people with dropped jaws! I myself, had to check my pants when I got to the wherehouse! LOL!

LOL! If you are refering to Giants Ridge in Bawabic (or however you spell it) that is a starter hill LOL! :D I learned how to ski over in Bemidji at the moutainous 400 ft high Buena Vista!

Alyeska Ski Resort here has something like 3000ft of vert. slope, and you can kill yourself very easily. http://www.alyeskaresort.com/page.asp?intnodeid=10805

It's the only ski resort in the world where the bottom of the moutain is at sea level.

Forget all that "Just do it," "Life is short- play hard," "Live free or die," or "I live in Kalamazoo Michigan and there's nothing better to do" stuff.

Since someone here knows me personally, and knows my wife, I may hear about this later, a LOT, but you ever hear the saying "Faint heart never won fair lady?" - Miguel de Cervantes. I don't know who Miguel is, but I agree 100%. What's it mean? Women, (females, chicks, the opposite sex) are really into it! They might not like to be around when you are going to the ER, but... There, I've said too much and Todd is probably falling out of his chair laughing, calling my wife right now.

Actually, she's the risk taker. You guys are crazy. Stay outta my driveway! Drifters... nobody has fun until someone gets hurt! Gotta be nuts :thatfunny

No, had a friend that was born and raised in Kazoo, told me a lot of stories. Most started with the disclaimer, "Well, since there was nothing better to do." Half were just that, stories.

My favorite Midwest story is from a friend who grew up in a one-cop town in Indiana. They did all sorts of things to harass him, but the one I remember involved them scooting up behind him while he slept in his patrol car along 'the strip." (Nothing, AT ALL, like Vegas.) He and his friends laid on their skateboards, slid up behind him, let the air out of his back tires. Then, of course, they would scream by horn blaring. He's since repented, is a youth pastor now, probably relates well.
